Shanie & Warren Stozek posted a condolence
Our most sincere condolences to all of Mr. Ryan's family. We've been his neighbours for the last 6 years now and it was truly a privilege during this time to get to know him. From bringing us flowers (a true gentleman!) when our daughter was born, always waving from his kitchen window with a big smile as we walked the kids to the bus stop each morning or the many wonderful conversations we all had in the court with him were a delight and made our move to Hermitage court such a pleasure. It was a joy to watch him engage his grandchildren in his dream of reviving the Victory Garden this past summer, it not only brought him and them joy, but it did for us as well. Our hearts are heavy with yours. Please know we are here if there is anything you might need. The Stozek's (Warren, Shanie, Qaliyanna, Cassius and Azalea)

George and I were saddened to learn of Justice Ryan's passing. He always had a smile , he loved to attend Law Society meetings and ceremonial meetings of the Court, following his retirement. We are all so saddened to hear of Pat's passing. He was a wonderful friend, and had a brilliant legal mind as well as a kind heart. I would always see Pat and Mardi at the gym where we talked over the current legal cases in the news. Pat had great insight into the law and was widely regarded in legal circles. I know my dad Bob Howie will be glad to welcome Pat into heaven where I am sure they will continue to entertain with their jokes and easy going manners.I bet that they will hook up with Father Dolan too. Please accept my sincere sympathy in the loss of this wonderful man. He had many talents and he was as smart as anybody could be. I worked at the Justice Building for many years . When I started in 1980, Pat had an office downstairs and he took the lead with the Legal Aid programs. I believe he did this at the same time he practiced. He was a true gentleman. When he was appointed to the Court of Queens Bench and then rose to the Court of Appeal, we were all very happy for him. He always spoke and liked to joke with the staff. He was a well admired man and I thought the world of him. He certainly will be missed.

I also followed him as conflict of interest commissioner where I saw first hand the fantastic work he accomplished during a decade. We owe him quite a bit of gratitude for his tenure on the Court and in the public service of our Province. He will be remembered for a long time. Alexandre Deschénes and Huguette.

It is roughly 75 years since Pat and I were at school, active and having some good times along the way. He remained a good friend over the years and we met occasionally. His enthusiasm and kind and true approach to life was evident always, and the family can be proud of the success in his career. My wife Anne and I enjoyed several meetings with Pat and Anne and in recent years he visited us when we were in Nova Scotia. I extend condolences and sympathy to Mardi and all the family on the loss of my good friend Pat. with love and best wishes from John
