Melba was a loving mother and homemaker who was adept at using a sewing machine, knitting needles and cookbooks just to name a few.
At 17 years old, Melba was employed as a stenographer with the New Brunswick Government Public Works accounting department. Other employment included using her seamstress skills at Kmart and with her sister-in-law Pauline Crawford. Melba was a multi-skilled artist and applied these skills when employed as an Occupational Therapist Assistant for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs and the Stan Cassidy Center.
Nanny enjoyed playing a variety of indoor and outdoor sports. Her passion for horses provided her with many exciting opportunities including being the Track Marshall at the Fredericton Raceway.
Nanny's love of the outdoors lead her and her family on many adventures. The family camp provided the perfect setting to be immersed in nature and many wonderful memories were made there.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Orchard View Care Home, Kindred, and Meals on Wheels for the excellent care of our Nanny.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 1:00pm at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. For those who wish, donations in Nanny's memory can be made to the Charlotte Street Art Center, Meals on Wheels or the Fredericton SPCA.
