Dear Cynthia and family:
I’m saddened to learn of John’s passing. John was indeed a wonderful human being. I first met him in Petitcodiac in the late 70’s. I recall him stopping by for a visit and I enjoyed his humor. I remember lots of laughter during that visit.
Cynthia. We are travelling the same path at this time as I lost my husband in May. It’s a tough journey.
God bless you

John and I carried on our ministry together in Riverview in the Presbyterian (Bethel) and Anglican (St. John the Baptist) Churches and moved the same week to Fredericton. We maintained a tenuous contact through the years which was interrupted by illness, my own and John's. He was a down-to-earth person and a true "pastor." Our sincere sympathy to Cynthia and the family.

I am so sorry to have heard about Mr. Sharpe. He always brightened everyone's day whether he was near them or not, all I would have to do is see a picture, or think of a memory and a smile would come up on my face, and a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart. I have just learned of John's "promotion to glory" and while like you, being deeply saddened by his absence, we certainly rejoice in his devotion to his calling, knowing that many souls have been brought to the kingdom by his long and fruitful ministry.. I have known John+ and the Sharpe family since 1963 and had the opportunity to share in their many joys as well as sorrows.
Sadly, we lost contact in recent years but my memories of earlier days when I visited with you in NB still are very precious. May he rest in peace.

The world has lost a very, very special person with John Sharpe's passing. He was
a genuine, kind and thoughtful person. From the day he walked Stanley up and down the aisle at his christening, to the last time I saw him at the market, I always felt I was in the presence of someone sent to inspire goodness and gentleness. As we sat together and chatted at basketball games his love for his family seemed to be without bounds. I am sure that everyone who knew John is saddened by his death but enriched by his life.

Cynthia, Jo-Anne, John Thomas, and to all John's family, we extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences in the loss of your beloved John. The memories of his time growing up in St. Philip's always brings a smile and happy thoughts. There was always a twinkle in his eye, and he was great fun! We all grew up together with the Sharpes and the Pierceys - two terrific families - and what a great couple John & Cynthia made, loving and devoted to each other and sharing a beautiful life together with their wonderful family. Mom (Anne Sharpe) fondly remembers all the fun times they had when they were younger and spending time together as neighbours. She remembers having discussions with John back in the day when he was contemplating going into the Church Army and how she felt he would make a perfect Minister. Through the Church Army, John guided Mom and our family through times of illness and we greatly appreciated his help. Derek & I planned our wedding around the time of John & Cynthia's summer holiday home to St. Philip's in July of 1978 so as John could officiate and marry us in St. Philip's church. What a pleasure and, again, a lot of happy memories. Needless to say, there were many discussions between Derek and John about hockey and their dedication to the Maple Leafs! We thank God for John's life and ministry. God Bless you all with strength and comfort today, tomorrow and all your days to come. With Love, understanding and sympathy, Carol Ann, for Anne Sharpe & Family.

Our family has fond memories of John. He has been there for us through some hard times, and good times.
He is a part of our family's story. When I think who helped send my grandmother (Joyce Lynch), mother (Cathy Lynch), and grandfather (Robert Lynch) to meet Our Heavenly Father - it was John. He was at their bed side. He was a comfort for us, he was a light in a dark place. He was so kind, thoughtful, and by nature- a good human.
Please know we are thinking of your entire family during this hard time. Find comfort in knowing he made such a huge impact in so many people's lives. He will always be talked about, reminisced about, and remembered- as he has part of many family's story.

John baptized (Adult) me in 1981 in Havelock. What I remember best was his warmth and sense of humour. I remember telling him I was a Habs fan and him saying he wasn't going to do the Baptism then. After a brief moment of uncertainty he laughed and said, "You're young, there's time for you to repent."
The first homily I heard him give was on tything. He grabbed me after the service and said, "Honestly, we almost never talk about money." I took his word for it and went back the next Sunday. He demonstrated what I feel has been missing from the church in recent times....kindness and compassion. Thanks for bringing me in Mr. Sharp....sorry still a Habs fan!

I first met John when he was visiting my mum at the hospital in 2021. I was new to the area, I stepped off the elevator and he called out my sister’s name , he thought I was Debbie. I told John , I was Debbie’s twin sister, after the surprise had worn off that there were two of us. John kindly guided me in the right direction to the nurse’s station and showed me to my mum’s room. I was a stranger to him and still he looked after me, as we know now after 2 years he looked after everyone he met as he travelled through life.

We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of John. He was a gift to us all and we have many beautiful memories of him from our wedding and most recently the burial of Mum. He was a tremendous friend to our parents and helped guide them through their years in faith, fun and laughter. Thinking of you Cynthia and spending you love and hugs your way. The Marshall family of Riverview sends condolences. John was the rector at St. John the Baptist when we moved to the community. I hold fond memories of John training me with several other youth as altar servers. We were hushed during services if we were too noisy, and sneakers with our gowns were a real no-no! What a lovely, warm, caring man who was an example to us all as he walked with God throughout his life. We feel sad that the world has lost a great man, but happy for John who can now see his creator face-to-face.
