Obituary of Richard Adam Warren-Perry
Richard Adam Warren-Perry passed away on October 22, 2024, aged 93 years. Born on October 11th, 1931 in Bandon, Ireland, he was the son of the late Henry George de la Poer & Isabel Mary (Lucas) Warren-Perry and husband to his cherished wife of 68 years, Wendy Stafford (Newman) Warren-Perry.
Rickie is survived by his son, John Warren-Perry (Monique); daughters, Elizabeth Jane Taylor (Frank), Susan Fearon (Terry), and Caroline Wood (Ian); grandchildren, Philip Warren-Perry (Melanie Mallard), Chelsea Warren-Perry (Matthew Fletcher), Patrick Fearon, Andrew Fearon, Emily Wood (Alex VanIderstine), and Olivia Wood; sister Ruth Barass (Robert), as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Rickie was predeceased by his siblings, Winifred Gibbs (Phil), Norman Warren-Perry (Dorothy), and Rosemary Waters (Adrian); and Wendy's parents, Philip Sydney and Norah Stafford (Pratt) Newman.
A Master Mariner, Rickie sailed cargo ships around the world. He immigrated with Wendy, John & Jane to Canada in 1963. Throughout his career, he worked in Dalhousie, Campbellton and Belledune ports as well as travelled to do marine consulting. He was always happiest when he was on the water, and particularly loved sailing with Wendy and their friends.
He was a proud Rotarian, being recognized and honoured with the Paul Harris Award. A dedicated Christian, he was a member of St. John's United Church, Dalhousie (1963-2010) and Wilmot United Church, Fredericton (2010-2024). He was also a member of the Masonic order and proud to be a Canadian Power Squadron boater safety and navigation Instructor.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home. As per Rickie’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 11:00 am, with Rev Mary Tingley as officiant.
