Sydelle will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother devoted to the well being of her family and friends.  As a former colleague stated, “Sydelle was such an outstanding human being. She will be missed by so many whose lives she touched and made a difference. Her colleagues at work so admired, respected, and loved her. I saw this often when I worked there in that Centennial building, now standing bleak and empty – as no doubt we who knew Sydelle now feel.”

Born in Newark, New Jersey on November 19, 1942, Sydelle became a Canadian citizen in 1989. She has a Bachelor Science from Douglass College (Rutger’s University) in New Jersey and Master’s degrees from Montclair State University in New Jersey and the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton.  Sydelle began her work experience as a junior high school science teacher in Union, New Jersey.  She held a variety of jobs during her working career in Fredericton including the Fredericton Multicultural Association, the Provincial Energy Secretariat and the New Brunswick Department of Justice before retiring in 2003. Her area of expertise was in communications.

While with the Multicultural Association in the 1970’s Sydelle was responsible for assisting Vietnamese refugees to integrate into Canadian society.  After retiring she worked on a volunteer basis with the New Brunswick Population Secretariat to attract and support young Israeli professionals who wished to come to Canada seeking a more peaceful life for their families.
