Oh, Betty. A sparrow has fallen. How i miss you. You have inspired me ever since i met you. I am feeling lost. I am so glad you have been a part of my life, even though the pang now, in this moment of knowing you have died, is so sharp. My condolences to your family, who must be feeling a terrible loss. Dear Betty.

Betty was one of the kindest, generous, most energetic people I was honoured to have known. She lived and left on her on terms, and will long be remembered, with great affection.

I am so sorry. I know you made your choice and it was the right one, but your loss chokes me.You were so strong and so real, my bridge partner, my best friend. We had such nice, close times together - Five Islands, France, Ste Anne's Crt, pandemic telephone calls. I will miss you. Hugs.

I have many fond memories of Betty and me, especially skiing at Crabbe. I spent a lovely weekend with her at her country place in NS. She was such a special person to me and an understanding friend. My condolences to her loving family. Rest in peace with love.

Please accept my sincere condolences at the passing of your Mum. I am deeply saddened and will greatly miss my old friend Betty. We had a wonderful friendship going back over very many years, so many good times, so many memories so many shared experiences. It was an honour to have known her.

To Betty's family: I am shocked to read of Betty's death. Our writing group will be decimated without her, so will the lives of many people. She was so talented and self effacing. I talked with her on the phone at the end of last year about her inability to visit her beloved cottage in N.S. last summer but she looked forward to the opportunity this year. Alas.

My deepest condolences to Betty's family. I already miss Betty so much. She was a role model to me. She accomplished so many things in her life but mostly I admired her approach to aging. She was so positive about it. I think that she captures how she felt in the fourth stanza of her poem, "The Journey": When Old, the lady views what remains with wonder, her worldly space as empty of ambition as a stringed cat's cradle, her voice muffled in the urgent yang of youth. Yet the heart of a girl as young as morning beats on with love for the grass's struggle to seed, for the hawk moth splayed on her window, love for the rightness of things that stretches to clouds in a sky so blue it could be an ocean. She again sees daisies with petals that do-si-do round yellow.

One of the factors influencing our decision to move to Ste Anne's Court more than a year ago, was knowing that Betty was a resident there too. Betty had told us of the good friends she had at Ste Anne's (including her dog!), of the activities she engaged in, gardening, harmonica playing, painting etc, and, of curse, bridge! We all remember what a highly intelligent, multi-talented and beautiful person she was in all respects. We shall miss her and we send our sincere condolences to her family. Sincerely george and annette strunz

I had the privilege of caring for Betty while she was in hospital. We became great friends. We would watch the Brier (curling) if time permitted me to. I would sneak down to her room and get some score updates. She was a wonderful person with alot of life experiences that we loved to hear about. Her and Nancy became the best of friends in their short time in hospital. Dance free my friend and breath easy. Spread your wings and fly. Thanks for the life tips xo
