Obituary of John Daniel Hubert

My dear father, Dan Hubert, 65, of Chance Harbour, NB, left us on March 26, 2021. He passed away after his journey with cancer. Just like he dealt with all of life’s experiences, Dan managed his illness with strength and determination. He wanted to spend as much time with his family as possible, enjoying his days at his camp, working on projects and learning. Dan was born in Val d'Or, Quebec in 1955. He was the youngest of four siblings. They all share great memories of growing up in the wilderness. When he was a boy, his father let him play with some radios at a work camp. He was able to hear people from the other side of the world for the first time. He was hooked! Radios became his hobby for life. Dan graduated from Mechanical Engineering at UNB in 1984. He started his career at the refinery in Saint John. Later he became a mechanical contractor, which took him all over New Brunswick doing construction and refurbishment projects. In 2004, Dan started his own company focusing on nuclear engineering. In his spare time, Dan could be found connecting with friends he made all over the world through his ham radios. When he stepped away from his desk, Dan enjoyed being in the woods looking for animals, spending time with his family and neighbours at his camp and walking on the beach with his little dog. He also enjoyed taming the local raccoons. Dan is survived by his former spouse, Brenda Hubert, daughter, Jennifer (Jordan) Lutes, his grandchildren, Drew and Emily Lutes, his siblings Peter Hubert (Margaret Warman), Emelie Hubert (David Black) and Harry Hubert. He will be missed by his niece Renée (José) Fonté, his great nephew, Alex Fonté, and nephews, Caley and Tyler Hubert. Dan was predeceased by his parents, Allison and Emelie Hubert. The family will hold a private celebration of Dan’s life at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
