Obituary of Marjorie Jean Grant

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marjorie Jean Grant at Orchardview Long Term Care Home on Saturday March 27th, 2021 & cremation has taken place. Born on October 9th, 1927, in Fairville, NB, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Nehemiah and Annie Smith. Marjorie enjoyed working as a sales clerk at Zellers Ltd. & GB Murphy Jewelry Store. She also enjoyed working as a Secretary for John Phelan Optometry & Calvin Smith Optometry in Fredericton, NB where she had a special bond with her employers & their families, knitting and making crafts as well as being a close friend. She was an active member of Christ Church Parish Church & enjoyed participating in their different groups, especially their craft group & auxiliary group. She will be fondly remembered for her fancy cooking of breads & sweets for their different events including helping to prepare for their bazaar event they had annually. She also enjoyed making crafts & knitting making sweaters, mittens & socks for her family & for her close friends. She also enjoyed helping others and would always have a special treat made for the events that were held in the entertainment room of the apartment building that they lived at. She was not an active TV watcher but did enjoy reading of magazine's and novels. In addition to her parents Marjorie is pre deceased by her husband Irvine Grant; sister Beryl Burgess; Brothers Neville Smith & Ferdinand Smith. A special thank you & mention to her sister-in law Marvin Smith who was more like a sister who did so much for her after Marjorie's husband Irvine passed away. Marjorie will be fondly remembered by her daughter Heather Anthony (Brian); grandchildren Miles Anthony, Jill Anthony (Ryan), step grandchildren Randy Anthony (Amanda); Tommy Anthony (Christine Smith) and step great grandchildren Macie Anthony & Paitlyn Anthony; & several nieces & nephews. I would like to thank the nurses & staff at Orchardview Long Term Care Home for the care mom received while she was a resident. I would also like to thank Jackie Hiscock for the many evenings she sat & brought treats to mom while in the hospital. There will be no visitation and a service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations may be made to the MS Society or a charity of donor’s choice.
