Obituary of Hilda Marie Mersereau

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hilda Marie (Burnett) Mersereau on April 10, 2021, at White Rapids Manor, Fredericton Junction. Born on June 11, 1929, in Fredericton Junction, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Everett and Mabel Alameda (Nason) Burnett. Hilda was employed by the Royal Bank of Canada at the Fredericton Junction branch from 1946 to 1955. She ended up working part time for Royal Bank in the 1970’s. In 1954, she married Gerald Arthur Mersereau. Shortly after, Hilda took on the proud role and title of Mum and excelled at being a wonderful homemaker. Hilda involved herself in many organizations. A few places she was a member of are the Fredericton Junction United Baptist Church, Gladstone Blissville Senior Citizens Club, Sunbury West Historical Society and Womens’ Missionary Society, of which she was a life member. She is survived by her daughter Deanna Carruthers (James); sons Terrance (Cindy), Alan, Benton, Colin Mersereau (Denise); grandchildren Jennifer, Jerry (Jessica), Ryan (Kyla), Kaitlyn (Neill), Annamarie and Andrew; step grandchildren Christopher and Nigel (Sara); great grandchildren Joshua, Brooklynn, Carsynn, Scarlett, Paislee, Kashton and Hallie; step great grandchildren Jordan and Mackenna; sister Theda Saunders, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Hilda is predeceased by her husband Gerald Mersereau, in 1995; sister Reta Taylor as well as brothers Raymond, Daryl and Lloyd Burnett. A Funeral Service will be held at Fredericton Junction Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 2 pm. This service will be by reservation, please call the funeral home at (506) 458–9170 to reserve a space as seating is limited due to social distancing restrictions. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to White Rapids Manor Mini Bus Fund, Tri-County Complex, Gladstone Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.
