Derek and Gina I called mom and dad and Paula we met a few years later to become part of this big family. Mark, Paula and I spent huge amounts of time together travel everywhere and had such great times together. We where there for each other no Matter what we had each other's back. I could go for pages and pages on all the memories I have and one day soon I hope to tell a few of those stories to my adoptive family. I will always remember all the times we had in the short time I had the good fortune to have my brother part of my life. So this is not good by my friend but see you soon brother! Mark was one of a kind! I met him through the Running Room and always enjoyed his visits to Saint John when he would pop into the store. Also had the chance to see him, talk to him, cheer him on, and see him inspiring others, taking photos, or running with others to help them reach their goals. Always with a smile on his face and he always had jokes and puns to tell. He will be truly missed. As this is Mark's 50th year, this next week of running and my next 50 km will be for Mark. Dearest Paula,Nicole,Derek and Gina. We are so very sorry for the passing of Mark. He was the most positive and caring person. I am amazed how he always took the time to visit with me when I came home again. It seems he lifted the spirit of so many people. We maybe ran together a few times in the early years. I can't quite remember. But both vish and I knew him from our early days of school. I was very lucky to call him a friend. We played scrabble on-line for a short time in the early facebook days. He always beat me. I am glad we always kept in touch over the many years I knew him. Again, we are so sorry to hear the news and send our deepest condolences and support to you all at this time.

I can't even begin to express my shock and sincere condolences. Mark was a favorite customer at the News Stop in Carleton Place in downtown Fredericton. Mark and his friends used to frequent the store on their noon hours when he was a student at George Street School. Ever since then, whenever I ran into Mark in town, we always had a great conversation about those days - I was his favorite "store keeper". And, I ran into him when his sister was in the hospital, as my Dad was in at the same time - we were able to share our sorrow. Mark always had a very special place in my heart. I can't even imagine the sorrow you are going through right now, after losing a second child. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Derek. Gina , Paula and Nicole, I met Mark long before I met you. He sold me various pairs of running shoes and worked hard to encourage me to take up running. I never did take him up on his kind gesture to assist me but each and every time our conversations turned to positive life experiences. It was funny when I met Dave that Mark already knew who I was. Mark was able to brighten a day that felt very dark. He always looked at life with positivity and kindness. His sense of humour and quirky puns never seemed to have left him even during his last few weeks. His smile was contagious. When we learned of his diagnosis of cancer, we felt so bad for him but he didn't want anyone to feel that way. He lived each day to the fullest. We remember our last game of Hands and Feet, he wasn't on his game but he didn't let his loss matter. He just said, I will be better next game. Well there wasn't a next game, we will continue to play without you Mark, but your presences will be made known just from our memories with you. You were a dear and good friend. This is not goodbye, it is see you later on the other side. Love and hugs to you all as you live your lives remembering the wonderful human being, your, son, husband, father and "brother" Mark Richard Kirby was. Love our friend! Kathy and Dave Fewkes
