Obituary of Joyce Anabelle Heins

Joyce Anabelle Heins of Fredericton, New Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021, after reaching the age of 89. After a short but valiant battle with lung cancer, she passed away peacefully within the comforting walls of the Hospice House in downtown Fredericton with her daughter Cynthia Collins by her side. She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that she was very proud of. Joyce was world-renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it was not what you wanted to hear. Joyce worked for 30 years as a legal secretary for the Province of New Brunswick, retiring (and proud of it!) on August 30th, 1991. Joyce was also a proud member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary located at the Marysville Legion branch for 45 years. She taught her family and friends many things in life, such as Ziploc bags are always reusable as long as you wash them, it’s never a bad time for a dirty joke, and most importantly, as a woman, you do not need a man to have a successful and thoroughly enjoyable life. Her extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. Joyce loved a good book, pre-recording Days of Our Lives and NEVER missing an episode, bowling, horror movies, delicious food, a strong glass of rum and coke, and being with her friends and family. Most importantly, she loved life and everything that came along with it. Joyce was the baby of her family and was preceded in death by her parents Harry G. Dunbar, Annie M. Ferris, and her many brothers and sisters. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her three children, Cynthia (Cyndi) Collins, Frederick "Fred" Heins, and Richard "Ricky" Heins, as well as her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, which she loved to point out "there are too many to name". A private celebration of life will be held on August 8th, 2021, which just so happens to be Joyce’s 90th birthday that she was so looking forward to. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice House in Downtown Fredericton, NB.
