He is predeceased by his parents, beloved wife Faheme, brothers Abdu, Gabriel and Raphael, and sisters Thérèse and Adane. He devoted himself to work, home, family and to enlightening everyone he met about his homeland. He loved Lebanon, always sharing stories of his years there with his new friends and acquaintances in Canada. He also loved Canada, his peaceful country of adoption; a place which he was proud to live in and call home. He enjoyed Canadian politics and never missed a chance to cast his ballot. He would often say "God bless this country". Proud of both his rich Lebanese heritage, and his new Canadian roots, Chamel embraced Canada as a land of opportunity, freedom, dignity and peace. With his young family, he left his birthplace in 1959 and quickly established a new home in Fredericton. Chamel loved to go to work at Horsnell’s Machine and Iron Works, which was then located on King Street in Fredericton. He ended his career at UNB where he worked in the physics department designing and creating fine parts for machinery to advance science and research. Chamel loved hockey and watching the NHL games on TV. He always rooted for the Toronto Maple leafs, and was a big fan of Daryll Sittler. Chamel never missed a morning walk and fully enjoyed the company of his fellow Regent Mall walkers. His greatest joys were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Chamel will be most remembered for his considerate and engaging demeanour toward everyone he met and for his great sense of humour. The family would like to thank all who visited, shared their prayers and good wishes and those who supported our father during his final days. Your love and compassion will not be forgotten. A public visitation will take place at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A mass of Christian burial will take place at St Dunstan’s Catholic Church on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 12 pm and will be officiated by Fr. Bill Brennan.
