Obituary of M.A. Yvonne Murray
Yvonne Murray, 98, of Montgomery Street, Fredericton, NB passed away on Monday, April 20, 2020 at the Oromocto Public Hospital.
Born November 11, 1921 in Shediac, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Régina (Arsenault) Gautreau. She was the last surviving member of her family. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Robert, Gérard, and Edouard, and sister Marceline Leger.
Yvonne will be sadly missed by her husband of 68 years, Joseph, and their five sons: Dennis (Joan) of New Maryland, Paul (Johanne) of Plaster Rock, James (Bonnie) of Fredericton, Patrick (Janice) of Cole Harbour, NS, and Chris (Michele) of Dundas, ON, and by 12 grandchildren: Jenna, Dylan, Colin, David (Amanda), Andrew, Jennifer, Christopher, Jacqueline, Emily (Michael), Patrick (Emma), Hannah, and Ben, and five great-grandchildren: Alexis, Axel, Owen, Charlotte, and Etta.
Yvonne graduated from the New Brunswick Normal School in 1939, and taught Grade One at Pointe-du-Chêne School. Yvonne was a member of St Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church for 58 years, and a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She enjoyed baking, knitting, quilting, painting, card games, and gardening. She was devoted to her family and strong in her faith.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home, Fredericton. Due to current health concerns, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A funeral mass, celebration of Yvonne’s life, as well as burial service, will take place at later dates.
In lieu of flowers, donations to food banks or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
The family would like to thank the nurses at the DECH 4NW, the Oromocto Public Hospital, Bayshore Healthcare, and in particular Connie Goodine, who Yvonne considered her special friend.
