Dear Gary, Kate and Jon, My deepest condolences. Diane (your mom) was a big influence in my life at a time when I was navigating through life and unsure of myself. She always encouraged me and was always genuine in her conversations with me. I will never forget the day she walked in the house and I had all the pots boiling on the stove and without a word, she directly walked over to the stove and put the lids on the pots, it is a lesson I will never forget. She led by example and I respected her so much for that. The world is a better place because of her. Much love and hugs to you all, Nadine

Dear Gary and Family: I can still remember taking classes with Diane for our BBA starting in '69..... a petite girl with such a beautiful smile......and so smart ! While we struggled at times, she seemed to breeze through it all with that smile still intact no matter what - and we were just 17. We have kept in touch over the years and Diane has never changed - just a beautiful person through and through - there are no words that adequately describe this classy and very brave lady. I know your are all devastated at this sad time, and I send my sincere condolences. Chris Brisbane

Wendy Beardall-Norton posted a condolence
Dear Mary, Gary, Kate, Jon and families; I was shocked, and overwhelmingly saddened to receive the news of Diane's passing. Living next door to you for 32 years from 1972 to 2004, and working with Diane at the then new Regional Hospital, DECH, I watched Diane from a young University graduate grow into a wise, kind and effective Administrator, while watching her marry to you Gary and settle into her marriage home and raise her two beloved children. Having met her Grandmother who had such a long and active life, and you, Mary, following in your Mother's footsteps, it seemed likely that Diane would repeat the pattern. I am so very sorry that that is not the case. I know Diane will be missed deeply by all, and I'll hold in my memory the 20 or 21 year old, newly Uni-grad, who had her Mom's rosey cheeks and beautiful smile and her Dad's humour, who I used to sit on the back lawn on Wright St., and chat with about what she wanted her future to be. Fortunately, she had a wonderful partnership with you Gary, and adored both you and your children and grandchild. She was loved dearly as well. We could have asked for longer - but never for better! My love to you all. Wendy Beardall

We are so sorry to hear about Diane. She was such a lovely person and a light to all who met her. We remember well the dinners at your place so many years ago: greeted with martinis right out of the freezer - it's a wonder we remember at all. But what we do remember very well is how happy Diane made us feel whenever we met her, at the Harvest festival or in a grocery store. We hope you are able to weather this terrible loss. Please know that we're always here for you

Please accept our full sympathy and condelences on the passing of Diana. I have known Di since she first joined DECH as part of the planning team for the new Hospital in the early 70's and we worked together on the Committee for a few years. I recognized her as an intelligent but quiet lady who was going to get towards the top in Administration in Healthcare. Although we lost some touch since then, except in passing but it was good to se her and Gary dancing away at the St. Thomists Dance Club. She was always friendly to me and it is very sad that she passed at such a young age. We were completely unaware until very recently that she has had cancer for 15 years, but obviously kept a good fight over those years. This is not a good time but rest assured that the time will heal as you remember the memories of your lives with Diana. Respectively submitted. Alastair and Linda Lamont

Dear Gary and family. Lynne and I were saddened to hear of your loss of Diane. My colleagues at the DECH had spoken highly of her over the years and I came to share their opinions when I became Chief of Family Practice of the Region in 1992. She both professional and personable, was on top of the issues and was my privilege to work with her, especially in the early days of regionalization when those of us from rhe Fredericton area were often at times not the most welcome visitors upriver. Diane's demeanour and professionalism were most helpful at times. She will be missed. Peter FraserFPRTS8
