Obituary of Carol Kathryn Wilson

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carol Kathryn (Blight) Wilson announce her death on September 21, 2021 at Hospice in Fredericton. Carol was the loving wife of 60 years of Dr. Frank Wilson. Born in 1938 in Hillsborough, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Barry and Kathryn (Thompson) Blight. Carol is survived by her daughter Kathryn Wilson and son Andrew Wilson, four grandchildren Erika King, Morgan King, Edward Wilson and Charlotte Wilson, one great grandchild Elwood (King) Anderson. Her family was the light of her life, and she theirs. Her impact on our lives was immeasurable and she taught us all the importance of caring, of being compassionate and the value of family. She also leaves behind brothers William (late Jesse) Blight and Lesley (Margie) Blight. She was predeceased by one brother Barry (Elsa) Blight. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special and distinct place in her heart and who loved their "Auntie Carol". Carol provided a safe and welcoming space for all of her family. Carol attended Mount Allison University and was a graduate of the New Brunswick Teacher’s College. She taught early elementary school in Riverview and Fredericton. After moving to England with her husband, who was studying engineering at the University of Birmingham, she taught at Welsh Farm and Collingwood schools for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She loved this experience and spoke fondly throughout her life about the children she taught during her career. After returning to New Brunswick she continued to work as a substitute teacher and volunteered in the community. She was actively involved in many groups including the Fredericton Music Festival, the Saint Anne’s Anglican Church Choir, Fredericton Chorale Society, Quilters Guild and the Art Club. In early years she could be found volunteering with Pony Club and any other activities in which her children were involved. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mohammed Khaleduzzman for his compassionate care over the years, the nurses and physicians at the Saint John and Fredericton Regional Hospitals and especially the nurses and care providers at Hospice Fredericton. There will be a service for family at the Saint Mary’s Anglican Church in Hillsborough on Saturday, September 25th at 11 am. A small reception for immediate family only will follow at the Albert County Funeral Home. Donations in memory of Carol may be made to Hospice Fredericton, Saint Mary’s Anglican Church in Hillsborough or at the donor’s discretion.
