I am so sorry to read of my friend Joan's passing. Over many years, I always considered it a privilege to play both golf and bridge with Joan. She was a role model to her friends in the way she accepted every person without judgement. She will be greatly missed by us all. My thoughts and prayers go out to all her extended family. Keep all the happy memories in your hearts and conversations.

Dear Carolyn, Diane, Sheila & David, I am so very, very sad to read of your mum's passing. I just hope her passing was peaceful. She was a favourite of mine. Not only was she a fine tennis player and golfer, she was also a real, good, softball player. An athlete par excellence! Joan was also a great mum to 4 fine children! Take good care of yourselves for your mum's sake, Trapper

Your mother was a very special person. I first met her at the bridge table. She was a very good player and always willing to help others "fine tune" their game, including myself. As a social worker, I also helped her "navigate the system" when Judy became ill and so I also saw Joan's vulnerable side, which made me realize how kind and caring she really was. I will always remember her kindness, her sense of humour, her quick wit and her non judgmental attitude. I am so happy that her family were with her during her final days. When that happens, you know how special and important she was to her loved ones. I am sorry for your loss. Please know she will be missed by so many of us at the bridge table. I hope your wonderful memories of her will comfort you in the days, months and years ahead. When I think of her, I always smile.... Debra

Our deepest sympathy to you all on the death of your dear Mother. Joan was a wonderfully warm and gentle person who I came to know through golf. She enjoyed the fun times and was always helpful and fair as an official. Played with her on many occasions, including at the Family Classic with Sheila and Diane! Keeping you in our thoughts & prayers. Kathy & Kathryn Meagher

Di, Carolyn, Sheila, David: I'm so very sorry to just now learn about your Mom's passing. Your Mom, Joan was one of the most wonderful, classy, caring, humorous, down to earth lovely person I had the pleasure of knowing. You probably recall I was around 11 years old when I first met your family, and a few years ago when I went home to Fredericton over Christmas and spent one special evening with all of you, your Mom asked me: "Well Pam, what do you think of my lovely family now?" What your Mom was referring to is how so very proud she was of all of you, and the extraordinary joy she was feeling about you and now your own families. In growing up with you as a family friend, I know how heart broken you must feel, and how close you were to your Mom. I can't express enough my heartfelt condolences to you all....And, Di, my very special sympathy to you my dear, and I know you will deeply miss your Mom and your talks together, because your Mom was the ultimate for positive guidance in any situation. Take Care Burt family, your Mom lived a beautiful life. All the best, Pam MacLellan
