Obituary of Valerie Lee Hanscom

It is with sad hearts that the family of Valerie Lee Hanscom announce her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Monday, November 29, 2021. Born on November 1, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Gerald and Uta (Corbin) Larlee. Valerie will be greatly missed by her husband Kevin; children, Anthony (Shawna) Hanscom, Kelvin (Jenelle) Hanscom, and Nathan Hanscom; grandchildren, Dawson, Maddy, Kiera, Marshall and Levi; siblings, Ronald (Barb) Larlee and Nila (Burton) Beach; nephews, Doug Larlee, Greg Long, and Randall Grant; nieces, Kristy (Larlee) Cairns, Valeen (Larlee) Basque, and Elizabeth Larlee; several great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Valerie was predeceased by her sisters, Lena (Larlee) Long, Sally (Larlee) Grant and her brother, Brian Larlee. Valerie met her husband at Plaster Rock convention in 1972. They were married in 1977. She lived in Woodstock and Cambridge, Ontario, where her three boys were born. They returned to Saint John, NB, in 1990 where her husband attended NBCC. Her family then moved to Fredericton in 1991 where she became employed at Woolco/Walmart in the sewing department and as cashier until her retirement. Valerie found great enjoyment in reading, sewing, knitting, some gardening, fishing and hunting, shopping trips with her sisters, and even the occasional motorcycle ride with her family. Over the past nine years five grandchildren were added to her family which brought her much joy, and always put a huge smile to her face until the very end. A visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB, on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm, followed immediately by a funeral service in the J.A. McAdam Chapel at 2:00 pm. Due to current provincial regulations, proof of vaccination and government issued identification will be required for entry to the visitation and service. For those unable to attend the service, a live stream will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/651843106 In lieu of flowers, donations made to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
