Obituary of Viva Grace Baird

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Viva Grace Baird on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Shannex, Neill Hall in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Born on May 19, 1937, Viva was the daughter of the late Basil and Mary (Chapman) Wood. Viva was a faithful and loving spouse, mother and grandmother before her illness. She made her mark wherever she worked, cooked , and socialized. In her younger years, she was a member of the IODE, took up golf and spent many happy times on the golf course with Roger, Stephen, and friends. She loved her time at Grand Lake relaxing and enjoying family. In later years she swam regularly with a group at the YMCA. During her final months at Neill Hall, she exhibited her love for all the residents and staff there and received the same in return. Viva will be missed by her husband of 60 years, Roger, son Stephen Lee; granddaughter Evangeline Viva; brother Forbes and his wife Myrtle; sister Carrie Mary Coy; aunts Noreen McFarlane, Lorna MacNeil, and Shirley Graham; Godsons Ian Baird, Ian Jones, and Samuel Baird; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends too numerous to mention. In addition to her parents, Viva was predeceased by her brother John David; sister Rebecca Elizabeth; and brother-in-law Lyman Coy. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 pm at McAdam’s Funeral Home. Due to current provincial regulations, proof of vaccination and government issued identification will be required for entry to this service. For those unable to attend the service, a live stream will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/655367428. An interment will take place at the Red Bank Cemetery, Chipman, New Brunswick on July 3, 2022 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice House Fredericton or Luxor Shriners Transportation Fund would be appreciated by the family.
