Obituary of Donna May Fletcher

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna May (Hayward) Fletcher on January 29, 2022. Born in Nasonworth, NB on October 18, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Howland) Hayward. Donna will be remembered most for her loyal, dependable, hardworking, warm and loving nature. To know her, was to love her. She had a kind sentiment, a smile and a hug ready and waiting for anyone who crossed her path. During her 40 year career with Hartt Shoes, she worked on the floor, in the office and many other jobs within the store. The scent of leather was a familiar and loved smell, which reminded her family of Donna’s work. Donna had a passion for baking, especially for others. When stopping by for a visit, you would often be greeted with a counter full of delicious baked good, ready to deliver to family, friends or others from the community in need. Donna was well known by many for her homemade pies and at Christmas time, her fruitcakes were the talk of the town. They were the best you’ve ever tasted. Undoubtedly because there was extra love baked into each and every one. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 62 years, Ashby "Sonny"; daughters Tanya Munn (Roger), Karen Fletcher (Phil) and Wendy Murray (Mike); grandchildren Shawn, Jeffery, Julie, Emily, Austin, Simon, Harley, Ryan and Jay; great grandchildren Christopher, Luke, Beckham, Kayden, Beau, Jaxson, Ellie and Renley; sisters Lois Shannon (Frank), Mary Phillips (Brian) and Phyllis Pratt, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Nana Donna never forgot a birthday, and was always prepared for a visit from the little ones with a sweet treat and a can of Fresca. She had a zest for life and never shied away from a request from her grandchildren, whether it was playing a game or going for a swim in the pool. She was always up for an adventure. In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by brothers Bliss and Harry Jr., and sisters Pearl and Idella. Visitation will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1224 Route 101, Nasonworth, on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 2 – 4 pm & 7 – 9 pm. A funeral service will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11 am, with The Rev. Canon Albert Snelgrove officiating. Due to current provincial regulations, proof of vaccination and government issued identification will be required for entry to the visitation and service. The service may be watched at https://vimeo.com/671528736. For those who wish, donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
