When I learned of his sudden passing I recalled our conversation of how he was a bartender at the Hilltop to pay his way through law school. Thankful for the good memories. Dear JoAnne, Jack and Drew, what sad news our community has received this week. John was a true gentleman who packed a lot into his 70 years on this earth. He played an important part in many people's lives, non more so than with the faculty, staff and students at UNB's Faculty of Law. Hundreds of law students benefited from his legal knowledge, which was only matched by his keen interest in their development as young lawyers. Our paths have crossed many times over the years. I will miss running into John whether it be on campus or at the local Sobey's. Your loss is being shared by many. Gisele joins me in extending our deepest sympathies to you and to all of John's extended family and close friends..

We had a great childhood in Sunshine Gardens and I have wonderful memories of my early life with John. Please accept my sincere condolences and best wishes for his family

Sincere sympathy to John's family. Our paths crossed professionally where I encountered an individual whose sterling reputation preceded him.The legal profession,Fredericton community and New Brunswick society, all benefited from his giving of his time and abilities. It's trite to say,"he left his mark". His Celebration of Life will provide an opportunity to say Thank You,, and so I do: "Merci John"

It's been a tough week but we're comforted to know that John touched so many lives. Thanks for your calls, e-mails, cards, flowers, and condolence messages. Your sympathies and memories are greatly appreciated! As Jack said in the obit, John loved good friends, good wine and good conversation. We hope that you can join us later to celebrate John's life and share some stories in person.. John would have loved that. We did have family celebration of his life at Brewbakers. A signature cocktail was concocted for a toast to John..so if you go into Brewbakers, order a JT. Thanks again for your support. We're very proud that John was loved and respected by so many of you. And we're thankful to have had JT as a big part of our own lives....you left too soon, we'll miss you bro.

My name is Jim Regan originally from Bathurst NB and I played with the Tommies when John and another great Fredericton Lawyer, Al Whitehead and “ fast Eddy” Jeffrey and of course Wayne Johnson , Bobby Bowes, Zeek our Goalie and so man more under Bob Mabie and LeRoy Washburn were rebuilding the Team. George Willett from Bathurst took me under his wing as did John . He was the smallest player on the team but had the biggest heart! I just heard of his passing today from Joel Pink and how well respected he was by his peers! Fred Brennan of course thought the world of Johnny and he helped the team make great strides!!!! My sincere condolences to the entire family . We were all privileged and enriched with his presence in our lives. Keep skating with the Angels Jimmy,
Jimmy Regan
