Obituary of Lenore Grace McLeod Barnett

The death of Lenore Grace McLeod Barnett occurred in Fredericton on March 31, 2022. She was born in Halifax NS in 1922, the daughter of the late William Ewart G. Shields and Emelyn J. (Lusby) Shields. She was a graduate of Dalhousie University in Arts and Education and taught at the former Quinpool Road School. She was married to Ronald A. Barnett of Halifax in 1948; together they shared a long and loving marriage until his death in 2015. She was the cherished foundation of her family. Her kind nature and heart-warming smile will be sorely missed by her three children: Donald and Linda, both of Fredericton NB, and Bruce of Geneva, Switzerland (Patricia Bell). She was artistic with a keen eye for light and beauty. She enjoyed her painting and music and was forever interested in dogs. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Lois Shields of Halifax NS and Eileen VanZoost lately of Yarmouth NS, and a number of nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, William E.D. Shields (2002) and sister Helen F. McIntosh (2006). At her request there will be no visitation or funeral, but rather a private graveside service at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to charity would be appreciated by the family.
