An honest man here lies at rest, As e're God with His image blest: The friend of man, the friend of truth; The friend of age, and guide of youth: Few hearts like this, with virtue warm'd, Few heads with knowledge so inform'd: If there's another world, he lives in bliss; if there is none, he made the best of this. My sincere condolences to the family of Allan Donaldson. It's been many years since I have been a student at UNB but I have not forgotten Prof Donaldson. He was a wonderful teacher. What I remember most is that he was an incredibly kind person. I am sorry for your deep loss.

I knew Allan my entire life. Once I grew into adulthood, I began to understand what an incredibly interesting and erudite person he was. Although I found it hard to understand his love of languages that were not relevant to the modern day (my brain being limited in its capacity to appreciate language for language sake), we had a common bond on so many other fronts - literature, the iron curtain, and collected pearls of wisdom from a variety of obscure places. Allan was one of the few Frederictonians that I knew that shared the same adventurous spirit. But more importantly, I will always remain grateful to he and Marjory for the delightful dinners they would host for my father and I in need of good home cooking and generous G&Ts! Allan - you will be forever in my life. Grateful to have had the pleasure of your company all these years. Corey

My deepest sympathy; I have fond memories of the many times you and Allan and John and I shared a table at the Sports Hall of Fame induction event. He was a quiet pleasant man and I always enjoyed his company. Thinking of you at this difficult time. Kathy Meagher.

I just saw this in the Alumni news now.
It was Professor Donaldson who brought literature to life for me in first and second year university. An inspiring teacher of the highest order, you couldn't help, even at age 18, being swept away by his enthusiasm for his subject. So good, so great an influence on me, Allan was one of five people I mentioned in my retirement announcement.
My condolences to his family, and especially to Marjory, another benefactor to me in my portrait for UNB Law.
