Obituary of Barbara Margaret Blacquier

Barbara Margaret Blacquier (nee Lyons) a lifelong resident of Fredericton, NB passed away peacefully from this life in her 100th year on April 29, 2022 at York Care Centre. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Blacquier "Uncle Dick" in 1991. After his passing, she lived independently until the last nine months. Family and friends always enjoyed dropping in for a visit at her welcoming home at St. Anne's Lodge on George Street. "Aunt Barb" was a loving and thoughtful aunt to her nieces and nephews, Patricia Dixon, Luke Kelly (Dianne), Robert Lyons, Fred Lyons (Diana), Mary Gorham (Dick), Barbara Herd (Grant), Barbara Thomas (Roger), Rick Harten (Pat), Peter Harten (Renée), Elwanda Gillis (Archie). Aunt Barb, as she was affectionately known to many, will be greatly missed by the next generation including Andrew and Karen Dixon, their sons, Charlie and Alex; and Tammy and John Vennavally-Rao. She will be especially missed at family gatherings and celebrations. Barb was a 55 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to play cards and crib with friends, participating in tournaments and hosting games in her home. Her passion for current events, politics and sports allowed her to relate to family and friends of all ages. A graveside service will be held in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension on Saturday, June 11 at 3:00 pm. For those who wish to make a donation in her memory Barb requested contributions to the Fredericton SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice.
