Firstly, I wish to convey my most sincere condolences to Elaine's beloved husband and adored son. Secondly, this message is for you Elaine...for some reason, I know, you've found a way to read these messages. I appreciated your dry humour and matter of fact manner. I know not everyone got this, but i did and we had the most interesting conversations because of it. You seem to have left this earth as you lived it...with a quick pace and a no fuss about it. Thanks for all the chuckles and the many children you've helped during your vocation. RIP Madame xo

Elaine was very dedicated to adoptions work and was always willing to assist and share information with other provinces in any way she could. Elaine will be greatly missed in adoptions. Please accept my sincerest condolences regarding the unexpected loss of Elaine. I'm not sure that mere words can capture the the extent of this loss and what a wonderful colleague and friend she was to many of us. Elaine came to work each day impeccably dressed, fiercely dedicated and passionate about her work. However, at the same time, she had a twinkle in her eye and enjoyed a sense of humour that sometimes left me "in stitches" and amazed at her many different ways of being. (I won't share my stories -- because she'd really hate that!! ... but I will cherish my memories and keep them close to my heart.) Elaine loved pretty things, her cottage in Cambridge Narrows and most of all, her family. I hope it brings some measure of comfort to know that Elaine touched many people and lives during her time with us, and she won't soon be forgotten. Please take care and know that you're in my thoughts during this difficult time.

Dear Daniel and Jacob, I'm very sorry for your loss. I feel that I know both of you from my many chats with Elaine over the phone or in Ottawa when she came to town. Elaine was part of the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Adoption Working Group and I valued and respected she experience in adoption. She fought for children and ensure that the safeguards of the Hague Convention were respected. Since her retirement last year she has been greatly missed by all members of the working group. On a personal side I loved her dry wit and her giant heart. We had both adopted children which also created a special bond. She was so proud of Jacob and his winemaking career. We had a long-standing Friday morning call until my workload increased exponentially. She would email me and remind me that we were due a chat and I knew that ONLY before or after "her sacred walk". I know that this is a very difficult time but I hope your memories of Elaine will sustain you and give you peace. Take care, Erin.

My thoughts have often drifted to Elaine and to her family, especially to her son Jake this week. I was fortunate to work with your mother in her role with Social Development and mine with NB Adoption Fd. She was extremely professional, precise, and a had no-nonsense and clear minded approach to her to work with the best interest of children always in the forefront. She will be be missed by the adoption world - she still had much to give! I immediately thought of the many times she spoke of you Jake. She was so proud of you! She lit up when she talked of you. My favourite memories of Elaine are when she spoke of you!
