I was very sorry to hear this news, and send my sincere condolence. Dr. Burridge was an excellent Professor for our power systems course, and a really nice guy. He was also a good neighbour. One day in the neighbourhood, a pole transformer caught fire, and he came by and made some interesting comments!

Bob was an exceptional person--thoughtful, gentle yet decisive, good humoured and unfailingly dependable. When I joined UNB in 1981 as a young PR writer, he was a mentor to me and a leader in the academic community, someone who inspired confidence and was an example of all that was finest about UNB, its history and traditions. His involvement with the University continued after his retirement, keeping the faith as an alumnus, professor emeritus and generous supporter. He will be missed.

It was my privilege to work with Bob for four years in the Vice-President's Office. He was one of the hardest workers I know. He was an engineer with a strong appreciation for the disciplines of the Arts Faculty, a scholar and a gentleman. I extend my condolences to his family.

My sincere condolences to the family. Bob was a neighbour and a dear friend for many years. A truly fine gentleman of the old school, whose modest and gentle demeanour belied the magnitude of his academic stature. May he rest in peace.

Bob was the very best of men. I knew him as my best friend's Dad, the man whose gentle voice was never raised, whose off-key singing made us giggle, whose after-dinner pipe smoke made me feel at home in the nest he'd made for his family. It has been a privilege to know him for so many years, to laugh at his jokes, and to smile in answer to his many smiles. We'll all miss you, Bob. Love to Lori, Stephen, and Colin, and thank you for sharing this special man with us.

I was privileged to have Bob as Vice President Academic while I was Dean of Science. I admired Bob's commitment to UNB, the time he took to study and give careful consideration to all submissions, his good humour and even handedness. Besides being my VP he was my friend.

I'm so sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He was an amazing guy, most always smiling and optimistic. Colin and I went to school together, starting back in grade 5 or 6 when Bob was our coach for schoolboy hockey. I remember going to Head Hall at UNB that year to see hockey films, arranged by Bob. Later I joined UNB as a faculty member and got to interact with Bob as Vice President. We've lost a wonderful man. My heartfelt condolences to all the family members.

Bob was truly one of the very best people I've had the privilege to know. He was a great man. Honest, humble, caring, and kind. I knew him very well professionally because it was to Bob, Vice-President (Academic), that I reported to during my seven year term as Dean of Law. I could not imagine having anyone better. Bob had the full confidence of every Dean who served under him. We unanimously recommended his appointment as Vice-President (Academic) Emeritus. We said in our citation that Bob was deserving of the highest honour, having served the University as Vice-President (Academic) with utmost distinction, devotion and integrity for more than two full terms; aka ways and in all ways an outstanding leader, colleague and steward; trusted and true, he has given his all. I was always happy to see him walk into the room. Karl Dore

Heartfelt condolences to the family of Robert Burridge. I have very fond memories of our interactions on campus. He was an exemplary scholar, an inspiring teacher and a superb administrator at UNB. He was the most hardworking and principled colleague that I have met at UNB. I got to know him when he served as UNB's Vice-President Academic. One day I told him "Bob, you have to stop working so late into the night". I had noticed that his office lights were still on when I left my office in the evening. His response was charismatic and spiced with humour. " Constantine, I am not really there, I just ask the janitor to keep the lights on to make people believe that I am still working". The fact of the matter was that he was in his office and on most nights he was working late into the night. Rest in peace, Bob.

Bob (Mr. Burridge to me, growing up as his next door neighbor and close friend of Lori) was a wonderful, kind, warm, and gentle father, neighbor and person. I have many warm memories of him from my childhood and beyond. He will be missed but always remembered. My thoughts are with Lori, her brothers Colin and Stephen, and all of their families during this time.

On behalf of the Faculty of Engineering, I want to pass along our heartfelt condolences to Bob's family. I was initially hired as new faculty member when Bob was Dean of Engineering and I have very fond memories of Bob as a fellow EE colleague and as a skilled administrator. I admired Bob for his sincerity, his interaction with people and his meticulous work ethic. Bob has had a lasting impact on me and the Faculty of Engineering.
