I was a student of Lissa's for just a semester in 2016. I did not really know her on a personal level, but as an educator she made a deep and lasting impact on me. Her knowledge of and passion for the subject matter (Shakespeare) was obvious and she easily captivated the entire room. I learned so much from her in that short time, not just about the Bard but about literary and media analysis in general, that I still use and benefit from. She was a very, very smart woman, as well as funny, kind, and beautiful. I was heartbroken to hear that she'd passed at such a young age. I still think of her frequently and I'm sure that's true of many of her students. She was one of a kind. I pray for comfort and peace for her family and friends.
