Obituary of Katherine Bella White

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Katherine Bella White at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital June 1, 2022 at the age of 95. Born in Catherham, Surrey, England, Katherine was the daughter of the late Robert and Rose Lockhart and was also predeceased by her brothers Robert "Bob" and Allan. She is survived by her brother Oliver Lockhart, Surrey, England, and several nieces and nephews. When Katherine immigrated to Canada from England in 1950, she resided with her chosen family, Barry and Dulcie Drost of Bath, NB, and their children, Stephen, June, Anne and Randy Drost. She later moved to Fredericton where she met her late husband John White and was employed as a hairdresser for much of her life. An active member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church, Kay, as she was frequently known, was engaged with the Canadian War Brides, the Fern Sewell Women’s Missionary Society and served for many years as President of the Golden Years Club. Much later, she resided at Risteen’s Landing and prior to her passing she lived at Thomas Hall, Shannex. With a wide circle of wonderful friends Kay remained active exploring craft work, ceramics, knitting, sewing, and had a great love for jigsaw puzzles. She will be long remembered for having an active mind and a wonderful memory and was known for her vibrant personality, sense of style and her love of children and animals. Katherine’s funeral service will be held from the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, June 7, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service. For those unable to attend in person a livestream will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/716900037. Interment will follow in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery on Woodstock Road. Pallbearers will be Randy Drost, Allen Spurrell, Stephen Drost and Jordan Brown. Special appreciation is expressed to faithful friends and personal care providers- Garry and Gayle Hanson assisted by Stephen Drost, Merri-Lee Hanson Tabor, Kerri-Lyn Hanson Howard, long-time care companion, Allen Spurrell, and loving friends Maggie Lally, Doreen Beale, and Alice Gilmore. Heartfelt thanks go out to the staff of 4 South West and Dr. Frank and Dr. Ginsen for their excellent care.
