Obituary of Norman Amos Oickle

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norman Amos Oickle on June 22, 2022 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born on March 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Amos and Helen (Weir) Oickle. Norman enlisted to the military in 1956, and was honourably discharged in 1971 as a Corporal. After his time with the military, Norman worked maintenance for many years. Some of his favourite passions were hunting, fishing and a good game of shuffleboard. He will be greatly missed by his spouse Bertha (Veno); sons James Oickle and Ronald Hopkins (Anita); daughters Susan Peck, Carolyn Dimock (Darren) and Norma Mabie; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters Queenie Belong and Joan Firth; brothers-in-law Mike (Dianne), Melvin (Barb) and John Veno (Ruth), as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Norman was predeceased by a granddaughter Cara Peck, as well as brothers-in-law Tom Veno and Malcom Firth. A celebration of Norman’s life will be held at the Oromocto Legion, Branch #93, on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at 2 pm with Rev. Dr. Kelly Burke as celebrant. Interment will take place in the Mactaquac Baptist Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
