Obituary of Joseph Phillip Infurnari

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Joseph (Joe) Phillip Infurnari after a brief battle with brain cancer. Joe passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Hospice House Fredericton on June 20, 2020. Born on December 4, 1948, he was the son of Josephine (Panek) Infurnari and the late John Infurnari of Hamilton, ON. Joe will be missed by his wife, Ruth (Powers) Infurnari; mother Josephine; sons Karl and Greg (Danielle) Lupson; grandchildren Sophia, Celina and Jon; sisters Mary Anne Malone and Teresa Mawson; many friends, neighbours, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, Joe was predeceased by his two brothers John and Phillip (passed away due to brain cancer at age 8). Joe grew up with his brothers and sisters in downtown Hamilton during the 50’s and 60’s. He loved his family deeply. When old enough, he went where most did to find work at the time, being one of the two local steel giants, Dofasco. In the 70’s, Joe met Ruth and they fell in love. Together, they enjoyed reading, gardening, trips to visit Karl in Bermuda and frequent performances at the Stratford festival. After ending his 32 year career at Dofasco with the #2 five stand in 2006, Joe & Ruth moved to New Brunswick to lend a hand with Greg, Danielle, and their 3 young children. Joe was always up for a challenging carpentry project and remained strong right up until cancer struck him down quickly in 2020. The friends & family wish to thank the doctors & nurses at the DECH, SJRH, & most notably, Hospice House, who went the extra mile. At Joe’s request, a small Christian service & eulogy took place prior to his death and he wishes all of his family and friends love, peace, and the comfort of Christ as they too move through life. As a gesture to those who supported Joe in his final days and continue to do so with deep love & compassion, please consider making a donation to Hospice House Fredericton "Care, Compassion, Dignity" http://hospicefredericton.ca/donate/. Also, please consider supporting Hospice by either donating to and/or making a visit to the Hospice Boutique, 585 Prospect St, Fredericton.
