Obituary of Anthony David George
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Anthony David George announce his unexpected passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmer’s Hospital on July 27, 2022. Tony was born in Fredericton on Jan. 8, 1936. He was the husband of the late Rosemarie (Doherty) George, and the son of the late George E. and Isabel (Zaher) George.
Tony was a well known businessman, and a very energized musician. He and Rosemarie founded Tony’s Music Box in 1975. Tony was also well known in the music community for decades as an exceptional drummer, and also performed for several years on vibraphones. Prior to starting the music store, Tony was an incredibly liked school teacher where he taught Gym, Health, and Latin, and also carved out his retail sales skills at G.E. George Clothing and Footwear.
Tony was also very athletic playing football and rugby in his university years, and continued years after, playing basketball, tennis and keeping an active life.
Tony is survived by his four children, Terri George, Michael George (Kimberly), Christopher George (Margaret), Lisa Storey (Dave); five grandchildren, Ashley George (Steve), Anthony Storey (Chelsea), John Storey (Melita), Laura Urquhart (Brandon), Chris Storey; step-granddaughter, Leah Day (Kevin); six great grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Edward George (Kathy); sister-in-law, Roberta George (Louis); several nieces and nephews.
Tony is predeceased by brothers, Louis George (Roberta) and Joseph George (Bev); sisters Helen Roman (John), Mary Manatakos (Peter), and Elizabeth George.
Tony’s family express their sincere thanks to Dr. Irrinki, a long list of nurses, medical, kitchen, and cleaning staff, and more at York Care Centre who cared for Tony with love, patience, and kindness for many years. The family also expresses their sincere thanks to the complete medical team in Emergency, and Palliative Care at the Dr. Everett Chalmer’s Hospital for their professional and compassionate care during Tony’s brief stay.
A Graveside service will take place at the Hermitage Cemetery - 499 Woodstock Rd, Fredericton, NB (near Hanwell Road) on Monday August 1, 2022 at 11:00am. Wearing a mask is requested. A live stream of the service will be available at the following link, https://vimeo.com/event/2321105
