I grew up in Skyline Acres and was a close neighbour of the Allaby family. I was constantly at the Allaby's home, in particular to hang out with Peter and Rob (we called him Robbie at the time). The real reason that I visited Peter and Robbie was in hope that Mrs.Allaby was baking chocolate chip cookies. Her cookies were legendary in my mind, and she was very generous in sharing them with me. I think Kathryn may have viewed me as her 7th son at times. I was probably a novelty for her...a boy who was a lousy hockey player (she didn't experience that with her real six sons). My memories of Kathryn are all great. She was a professional Mom and always so good-natured. Ernie was kind to me too (as long as I didn't think of sitting in his La-Z-Boy chair). My condolences to Ernie and the family. Thank you, Kathryn, for making my childhood better by guaranteeing that there was always enough players for a game of hockey, road hockey, baseball, hide-and-seek, etc. Thank you for the great memories and the warmth that you provided to me, your friendship to my Mom, and your kindness to everyone in the neighbourhood.
