Obituary of Blanche Laurina Fleck

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Blanche Laurina (Hamilton) Fleck on March 30, 2023, at the Moncton Hospital. Born on July 17th, 1945, in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Blanche (Scribner) Hamilton.

Blanche’s greatest source of pride was her three daughters Marnie, Cindy, and Nicolle, her grandchildren, and the newest addition to her family, her first great granddaughter.  Blanche’s fierce commitment to family was evident in all she did. Blanche grew up in Rothesay, a loving sibling to 8 brothers and sisters. They all describe her as a hard worker, a care giver, a confidante, and a beauty queen. One of her sisters described Blanche’s ironing skills saying mom was always so proud of the sharpest pant leg edge! Blanche worked at Shoppers Drug Mart for most of her adult life where she mentored many people. She was known for her hard work ethic, commitment, and true loving care of all who had the opportunity to know her. Our mom loved to cook, bake, clean, paint and repaint the walls, and make her house a home in all the special ways always ensuring all who entered felt so welcomed and comfortable.  Mom was the most gracious host, and everyone loved spending time with her, enjoying her love, light and grace. Mom is known for her famous spaghetti sauce, and her grandchildren enjoyed learning how to make that with her.  Every summer, mom looked forward to digging up new vegetables from the garden to make hodge podge. Cannot forget how our mom loved dulse!

Mom loved to do her daily puzzles in the newspaper, telling us all we too should be challenging our brains. Mom loved to garden, bowl, play darts and was always up for any new adventure. Mom had a competitive spirit, and she could always be heard in the gym or rink cheering loudly at her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was most definitely a super fan. Mom loved road trips (and she never left home without packing enough food to last for days) and travelling, her most memorable trip being her post-retirement vacation in Hawaii.

Mom had the most humble spirit and beautiful heart, and she truly did not realize the impact she had on all who were lucky enough to know her.  As her family, our deepest longing is, quite simply, more time with her.

She will be greatly missed by her beloved children Marnie Davis (Mike), Cindy Patterson (Steven), and Nicolle Fleck (Kyle LeBlanc); cherished grandchildren Taylor, Lauren, Brady, Claire, Paige, Christopher, Colton, Ryan, and Hunter; precious great grandchild, Aubree; her loving partner, for the past 6 years, Darrell Nagle; siblings, Florence Bishop, Murray “Sonnie” Hamilton (Zola), Wallace Hamilton (Judy), Murlyne Russell (Peter), Sheila Greer (David), Pat Wilson (Ken), Brenda Boye (Robert), and Wayne Hamilton (Sandy); brothers-in-law, Gary Fleck (Sandra) and James “Dwight” Fleck (Christel), as well as her several adored nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Blanche was predeceased by her spouse, Gregory Fleck; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Adin and Shirley (Marks) Fleck, as well as a brother-in-law, Fred Bishop.

Blanche’s family would like to thank the Moncton Hospital Palliative Care staff for the incredible care provided to her during this sudden and unexpected tragedy. She had so many more years to live, grandchildren’s graduations, proms, future marriages and future great grandchildren to enjoy.

In keeping with Blanche’s wishes, there will be no funeral. For those who wish, donations may be made to a charity dear to their heart.
