Obituary of George Raymond Burtt

The family of George Raymond Burtt, 85, of Fredericton, New Brunswick, sadly announces he passed away on April 26, 2023.

George was born on Nov 23, 1937, to Gifton and Helen (Brewer) Burtt in Fredericton, New Brunswick.  He grew up on Union Street in Devon and was a graduate of Fredericton High.  George went on to complete a degree in Civil Engineering at UNB and worked for most of his career at the NB Department of Transportation.

In 1962, George met Marilyn, and they wed in 1963.  The Burtts raised two children, Heather, and Robert. They spent 55 years in their home in Devon.

George was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time hunting and fishing.  He was passionate about spending time with his family and friends at the cottage on Oromocto Lake. 

George is lovingly remembered by his wife Marilyn; daughter, Heather MacDonald; son, Robert (Laverne), and his grandchildren, Stephen, Matthew, Jessica (Jason), Mary Lou, and Nicolas as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother Brian.

The family is grateful to the staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home, who have been very kind in providing care to George in the last year.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam’s Funeral Home. A visitation will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 1-3pm in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel, with a service to follow.
