Obituary of John Lewis Pierce
It is with great sadness that the family of John Lewis Pierce of McAdam, NB, announces his passing on April 30, 2023, after a brief illness at the DECH in Fredericton. Born in St. Stephen, NB, on September 28, 1945, he was the son of the late Lewis and Doris (LaKing) Pierce.
John was finally reunited with the love of his life, his beloved wife of 48 years, Helen (McIntosh) Pierce (2012). John spent the last eleven years talking about how much he was looking forward to seeing her in heaven. We are sure his adored brother Billy (2003) will be there to guide him to the nearest hunting spot or secret fishing hole.
He will be deeply missed by his boys, Robert (Joanne) and John. He was an idol to his 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He will be fondly missed by Helen’s brothers and sisters, who viewed him as their big brother, as well as many nieces, nephews and daughter-in-law, Lisa. John loved his family and many dear friends and could be found telling a joke or two at any gathering. There was always lots of love, laughter, and wisdom when in his presence. Lots of the stories will be retold, and will likely begin with, “Remember the time that John….” He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
John was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time hunting, fishing or working in his shop. When not at his camp in Barberdam or Magaguadavic lake, he would be found helping anyone in need. His heart was as big as his smile.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2 pm at Voice of Pentecost Church, 84 Harvey Road, McAdam, NB, with Pastor Stephen Tompkins officiating. Interment to take place in Rockland Cemetery.
