Obituary of Lawrence William Leaman Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence William “Larry” Leaman Jr., on August 8th, 2023. Larry was raised in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland by parents Pamela and Larry Leaman. As many know, he was quick to share this piece of his life with others – including the many boxes of fish he quickly offered. This resulted in whacky sayings and simple pleasures that he deeply treasured.

Larry’s life was a testament to perseverance. Full of integrity, he approached every endeavor with unwavering determination and passion. His career with the Canadian Armed Forces was one of his proudest accomplishments. This a source of immense pride. Larry served for twenty-one years, completing numerous tours and peace keeping missions. He was most proud of the sacrifice he made not only for his family, but his country.

Beyond professional accomplishments, family was the center of his universe. He was a loving father to children Emily Amelia and Caleb William Leaman. His children were the light in Larry’s life. He leaves behind an immense number of memories, including family vacations, celebrations, and his favourite supper choice – pogos.

Larry’s magnetic personality drew in those around him. He had an uncanny ability to connect with others, resulting in friends from all walks of life. He had a warm and endearing smile, hearty laughter, and a compassion for friends like no other. He was someone you wanted in your corner, even if you found yourself caught in his mischief.

Larry’s life was woven with love, determination, and an unwavering spirit. His absence leaves a void that could never be filled, but his memory will live on as guiding light for generations to come.

While his physical presence is no longer, his love, wisdom, and memories, will remain etched in our hearts forever.

There will be a Memorial Gathering at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Sunday August 13th, 2023, starting with visitation time from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. This will be followed by a time for sharing memories at 1:00pm. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
