Sharon and family,
I remember starting at BVL in the summer of 2014 and seeing this guy who I thought looked a little out of place at the office. He must have been almost 80 years old. "What's up with that", I said to myself. Well, one short conversation later with Chris and it didn't take me long to understand that this gentleman (gentleman in every sense of the word) was absolutely in the right place. Chris was a fountain of "life" experiences. He loved engaging in conversation. Short & not so short. What I marveled at most was his dedication to work, health, and his family. We talked about our cottage lives and how the time spent there elevated our well-being. Chris never missed a beat. He made the most of everything.
So here's to Chris! Thanks for taking the time to always ask me how things were going in my life. That's what good people do...and Chris was one of the best.

I was saddened to hear of Chris's passing. We moved into the house next door to him and Sharon about 9 years ago and they welcomed us with open arms. I always enjoyed my chats with Chris, talking about transportation, the building supply industry and I'll never forget twice a year he'd get the ladder out and we'd work on trimming the hedge between our properties, and it was all I could do to have him let me climb the ladder and use the trimmer...when he first told me how old he was, I didn't believe it! I have a lot of fond memories and we will all miss him. Thinking of you all!

Sharon and family,
We were saddened to read of Chris' passing. We met Chris, with you, at a Matt Anderson concert in Fredericton a few years ago. He certainly sounded like a wonderful man and I know you will truly miss him. Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
Our sincere condolences to you and your family.

I do not need to tell you who Chris Brodbeck was. Because it would be impossible to have met him, even for a moment and not come away with a full positive experience. He was a great man, and all who had the privilege to meet him, knew it. To know Chris was to love him. His love for his wife, sons, step daughters, grandchildren, family and friends, he did not hide, but showed with pride. When he spoke of his sons, it was always with a huge smile and often a shake of his head and laugh as laugh he told of their antics.
Even with his towering stature, it was his warm and friendly demeanour that everyone saw and was drawn to. Right away, he had a way to make others comfortable, and accepted. What you saw was what you got, and in today’s world, that is more rare than ever.
Each and every memory we have of Chris is a treasure, a treasure each of us will cherish. He truly enjoyed life, and honestly loved his family and his friends.
I know how much family and friends meant to Chris by how he enjoyed his time with all. I also know how much Chris meant to so many, by the heartbreak we each had when we got that final call.
Again, anyone that knew Chris, knows all of this. He told each of us, in how he lived his life. He told us in his own special unique way, in the connections he made with each and every one of us.
This is the man I will remember and cherish today and always; a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Chris you were older than me, a lot older lol but your friendship I cherished, and my life is better because I was blessed to have a friend like you.
Thanks for the memories, the care and love. Till we meet again

I was so fortunate to be part of two painting groups with Chris. We painted for quite some time with Mr Fletcher and more recently at Ecole Ste Anne. Aside from being a gifted artist, Chris's was a true gentleman. It was a pleasure and an honor to get to know him. I am so sorry for your loss. May he rest in peace and paint with the other greats

Sharon and family,
My sincere sympathy to you and your family on Chris' passing. He was such a great man. I always enjoyed working with him. He would always call me if he needed to talk to anyone here, as he knew I had been here for so many years that I could guide him in the right direction. I am sorry I cannot make his celebration, as I have 2 doctor appointments that day. Just know I am thinking of you all.

Dear Sharon and family,
My condolences to your profound loss. Chris was one of a kind. I fondly remember his dedicated fitness routine at the Y, Patiently waiting for a group fitness class to end so he could run on the track and could be seen chatting with all around him there. His disciplined and consistent routine surely added to his vibrant life that he shared with you all.
Sincerely, Mary-Ellen Landry

My condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of Chris. It has been an honour and a privilege to know Chris through our painting class through the years with Don Fletcher and more recently through the francophone retirees of le centre communautaire Sainte-Anne and friends. Genuine, authentic, kind, beautiful soul, the real deal in friendship. We will miss you my friend with your stories from back home in Switzerland and your beautiful paintings of NB scenes and scenes from your homeland.
May you rest in peace my friend,
Larry Gagnon

Sharon and family Ross and I want to express our sincere condolences to you all at this time. We didn’t know Chris but always had heard great things from Dolores and Danny. We know you were all close and enjoyed one another’s company often. Just read his obituary and can see that he was a well thought of man and very successful! Christoph, our Swiss relative became a big part of our family when he came to Canada. I was staying with his parents in Biel Benkin in 1962 and he had already left for Canada. I met him on my return when he brought his family to our home in Caulfeild, West Vancouver. Over the years we kept up with visits between Vancouver, Montreal and New Brunswick. And there was always the Christmas phone call to bring us up to date. Chris was always such a happy guy and loved by all. He and my husband would have great chats about still working in their 80’s and 90’s. My condolences go out to all the family in Switzerland, New Brunswick and Montreal. We are all better people for having Christoph Brodbeck in our life.

Christoph was certainly one of the more memorable visitors to our family home when I was a young girl. There was always lots of conversation and fun. My memory from then was going downstairs each morning and finding Chris standing on his head in the living room. His morning routine and boy was I impressed!
Though we lived on different coasts and didn’t see each other often our more recent memories were of our annual Christmas call that we would receive from Chris. It was always so nice to hear his lovely soft Swiss accent and catch up on major events. We are so thankful to have had a visit last summer in Fredricton where Chris and Sharon were as usual the ultimate welcoming hosts.
Our thoughts go out to all the family. We know he will be greatly missed.
Love Rennie (Strubin) and Keith Furlotte
