Auntie Marg, Carole, Sue, Anne and family,
My memories are many…but mostly of the family get-togethers at your place and ours in Montreal.
The most special memory would be the love and the hugs I would always receive from your Dad, making me feel so special.
My Dad spoke of your Dad with such brotherly love and missed him greatly in his last few years.
My deepest sympathies to all the family. It was a beautiful service this morning.
Auntie Marg…How incredible a marriage you have had. Thinking of you.
Uncle Don…sending you a huge hug

Jack (Don) is my wife's grandfather.
Don and I had a unique bond. When we first met he shared a story with me about when he was younger a popular snack at the movie theater was Dulse. The next time I saw him he had bought me a large paper bag of them. He was very excited to share this treat with me. We sat down and enjoyed a few pieces together as he told me more about his incredible life and his love for his family. From then on every time I'd come for a visit Don was always there waiting with a big smile, bag of dulse and more amazing stories.
I will miss you Don, you are forever in my heart.

Dear Mrs. Fletcher, Anne & family,
Many wonderful memories of my teenage years were at your home. I always admired Mr. Fletcher’s beautiful paintings, gorgeous flowers, and remember driving up Carriage Hill and seeing his beautiful hydrangeas everywhere! His “Birches” painting is hung in our home and it reminds me of him daily. He was such a kind and gentle man. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

Dear Marg, You and Don go back a long way with me. I remember meeting Don when you brought him to the Legion to play bridge with you. He barely knew the suits or how to bid, but he was always smiling. In fact, anytime I saw him, he always had this beautiful smile with a few kind words. I am so sorry that I cannot be with you at this time, but we are thinking of you.

I considered him my second father - as a teenager and spending many afternoons and suppers with Sue (his daughter) in Halifax. What a loving man and a beautiful family. Later, during one of my visits to Fredericton, I mentioned how much I loved one of the paintings Don and Margaret had - he quickly came back with a painting (see photo) just like the one I admired and gave it to me. I was so touched and whenever I look at it, it brings back such great memories.

I’m so sorry to see this day come. I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am to have known this man and the wisdom he shared with me. Both Don and Margaret were so good to me as a misguided teenager I truly will never forget the love and guidance they gave me. I truly loved Gillian and the whole family and they took me in as one of their own , Don referring to me as the son he never had. I think if I had one word to describe him it would be GENTLEMAN. He had such a beautiful disposition and kindness to him , truly qualities that are missing today. You know I went to sleep last night and woke thinking of times spent with him in Fredericton, they really were great times. He had trust in me and above all I had trust in him and so much respect for this Gentleman. There is a piece of my heart missing today, a very sad day indeed. My heart goes out to Margaret and the entire family. I love you all ❤️
