Ruth & Hollie Craig posted a condolence
I first met your mum in 1952, the day Albert Street School opened. We have had a wonderful friendship ever since. We were in constant touch until the summer of 2020 when she stopped answering my phone calls. She introduced me to Beta Sigma Phi & we've been sorority sisters ever since. I have had three falls since February and have been moved from DECH, to Oromocto Hospital and now have been moved to York Care as of Tuesday. Hollie is at the cottage and now has some dementia. Otherwise we would've have been at the memorial service today. I am with you in spirit. I'm keeping you in my prayers. I would welcome a visit anytime. I'm in Tower 1, Room 1076. My love to all of you, Ruth

Dear Sue and Mary, I was saddened to hear of my sweet "Miss Briges" passing away. Your mother was my Grade One teacher in 1954, at Albert Street School. Throughout my 17 years of schooling, never did I know a teacher that I loved more than Marie.(she asked me to call her Marie when I would visit her within the last ten years). Your father was my art teacher at Smythe St. School, from 1956 to 1960. My aunt and uncle, Lorraine and George Evans, first introduced your mother and father to each other, as Lorraine had been at Mt. Allison with your father and George and your mother had known each other since kindergarten. I used to love getting Christmas cards from your parents, with your father's lovely watercolour illustrations on the front. When I went to a Sunshine Gardens reunion several years ago, your mother let me borrow a Smythe St. School yearbook from the 1950's, so I could copy some photos for the get-together. I still have a copy, from The Daily Gleaner, of your mother and all we lucky children, on our first ever day of school in 1954. We were all so fortunate to be in "Miss Bridges" class, for she was every child's dream of a loving, kind, creative and patient teacher. I shall miss my visits to Saunders St. Covid prevented my visiting Marie this past summer. My deepest condolences to both of you and to your families. Sincerely, Cathie Evans Weldon Lachine, Quebec

I was so sorry to read of your mother's passing. She was my Grade One teacher at Albert Street School in 1956 when she was still Miss Bridges. I have to say she was, without a doubt, my favourite Elementary School Teacher. She gave me, most likely a bit ADHD, a happy start to school. She taught me the basics but she was also patient with me. I also recall that your dad was one of my teachers in later years. I also enjoyed him as a teacher. When my dad passed ( he was known to teachers), you mom came to the visitation which meant so much to me. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Mary, Whenever I think of your mother I think of the two words "charm" and "elegance". They describe her to a "T". I am so sorry to hear of her passing. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Hank Williams, your former neighbour on Saunders Street who was in the band with you

Valerie Drury posted a condolence
Hi Susan and Mary, You would remember me from Smythe Street School as Valerie Clarke. I was so sorry to read of your mom's passing. She was such a kind and beautiful lady. always supportive of you Bothe and of those people involved in your lives as myself. Susan I never had the privilege of teaching you but I did Mary and I recall a very smart little girl in Grade 5. In fact wasn't that the year we hatched the chickens? At any rate I just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you both and wishing you fond memories of both Clive and Marie in your home next door to the school. Sincerely, Valerie Drury
