Obituary of G. Marie Roberts

It is with great sadness that the family of Gene Marie (Bridges) Roberts announces her passing on December 18, 2020, at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on April 7th, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth (Perley) Bridges. Marie was a teacher in a few schools around the Fredericton and Napadogan area. She primarily taught grade 1 students and loved her career. Also, she was a long-time member of Kings Daughters and Beta Sigma Phi, as well as a lifelong member of the Brunswick St. Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Sue Roberts (Jorge Nunes) and Mary Roberts (Tim Cunningham) all of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Daniel and Milo Nunes both of Fredericton, NB; sisters Elaine Sparks (Ken) of Rothesay, NB and Evelyn Briggs of Fredericton, NB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Clive Hayes Roberts. Marie was a social lady who truly enjoyed time with her friends and family. She loved when her friends and family dropped by for a visit and there was always much laughter and remembrances of happy times during those visits. Her gentle and caring nature extended to her love of animals as well, a love that she inherited from her own mother. There was a constant parade of cats and other animals through the house and she loved and cared for them all. A special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Hospice House Fredericton and the 4NE wing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for their compassionate care of Marie. A visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, 2022, from 2 - 4 pm & 6 - 8 pm. A Memorial Service will take place at Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 2pm with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to the Humane Society, Brunswick St. Baptist Church or Hospice Fredericton.
