Obituary of John Joseph LaPointe

The family of John Joseph LaPointe is sad to announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital (DECH) on June 17, 2024. Born on June 2, 1951, he was the son of the late Jack and Eileen LaPointe.

John will be missed by his daughter, Michele LaPointe (Corey Bodechon); grandson, Zackary Foster; sisters, Mary Billings (Sherwood – deceased), Patricia Miller, and Elaine Geldart (Wade); his beloved shih tzu and constant companion, Willow, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his parents, Jack and Eileen, John was predeceased by his granddaughter, Samantha Bath.

After enjoying a long career with the province of New Brunswick and NB Housing, John retired to start enjoying his free time. An avid golfer, he was as often to be found on the golf course as not.  He was devoted to his church and a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.

Friends and family will remember John for his love of teasing and tormenting them. The more he teased you, the more you knew he loved you. His sense of humour and fun made him a favourite to be around.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, staff and especially the nurses at the DECH for their kindness and caring during these difficult times.

A visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church on Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00 am with Fr. Maria Arokiam Chinnappan as celebrant. Interment will take place at 2:30 pm in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name to the Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
