Obituary of Marie Georgina Jones

 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie Georgina "Georgie" Jones, the wife of Gwynfor "Jonesy" Jones, at Hospice Fredericton on November 7, 2024. Born on December 20, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Albertine (Dugas) Doucet.  

Georgina began her time in the Canadian Air Force as a Leading Aircraftwoman for 3 years as a fighter control operator (FCO), worked in administration at CFB Greenwood, and then retired as a civil servant from CFB Gagetown.  She worked with the CUPE local at CFB Gagetown, including time in the union leadership.  Georgina was also very active in her church and community. She was a member of the CWL and a lay minister who helped wherever she was able, including volunteering at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was very proud to have finished her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from UNB.    

Besides her husband, Gwynfor, she is survived by her children, Gary (Patricia Wells) Jones, Wassis, Ken (Ryan Webb) Jones, Toronto, and Gwen (Neal) Walker, New Maryland; grandchildren Seren Hearn, Seamus Hearn, Marrok Walker, and Zane Jones; one great grand-daughter, Delilah Paul; sisters, Evelyne (Gerald) McIntyre, and Géraldine (Gordon) Esligar; brothers, Howard Callaghan (Tina), Edmond (Anita) Doucet, Guy (Carmen) Doucet, and Clarence Doucet; as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her infant brother, Gilles, and sister, Clairine Pitre. 

There will be visitation for Georgina at McAdams Funeral Home, Monday, November 11, 2024, from 2-4 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. John and Paul Church, 727 New Maryland Highway, New Maryland, NB on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Peter Osbourne officiating. For those who are unable to attend the service, a live feed will be available at the following link: https://vimeo.com/event/4712053 Interment will take place at Oromocto Pioneer Gardens, Oromocto.
