Obituary of Doris Pearl Stairs
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris P. Stairs announces her passing at the Fredericton Hospice on January 6, 2025. Born in Woodstock, New Brunswick to parents Herbert and Sadie (Niles) Lindsay. She was the wife of the late Melbourne Douglas “Red” Stairs.
She leaves behind her children, Gary H. Stairs (Janet) of Fredericton, NB, Ross Stairs (Chantal St-Pierre) of Green Mountain, NB, and Sandra Stairs of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Lindsay Stairs (Steve Dodds), Lee Stairs (Amanda), Abby Stairs (Mike Porter), Erin Stairs (Daniel Filmore), and Alyse Stairs-Lamb (Chuck Allen); great grandchildren; Lexis Stairs and Jackson Tait, Thomas and Alex Stairs, Molly and Anna Porter, and Logan, Lily, and Liam Allen, along with many special nieces and nephews, and close family friend Robert Lamb.
In addition to our father, mom was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Sadie Lindsay; brothers, Lewis, Raymond and Reginald Lindsay, and sisters Ruth Haney, Grace Donovan, and Ada Merrithew. We are comforted in knowing she is now reunited with all her family members, including her special granddaughter, Laura Stairs.
Mom was a woman of quiet strength, whose love was constant, whose presence was comforting, and a special confidant for the family. She believed in the importance of family, having the unique ability to make each and every one of us feel special. She was our feeling of home, and her love will live on in all who were lucky to be loved by her.
Mom also taught us what it was like to be truly present. Whether it was with a gentle word of advice, a conversation over a cup of tea or a hug to take our worries away. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel at home. We will always miss her warm embraces, infectious smile and love for her family.
Long live the beauty in the world that comes down, through and onto all of us because a wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and a friend to many lived.
We wish to thank Dr. Rideout, her family doctor, and Heidi her RT from Extra Mural for their attentiveness and home visits, along with the nursing and support staff at Fredericton Hospice for the compassionate care mom received during her stay. A special mention to Jenia her Personal Support Worker.
A celebration of life will be held at McAdams’s Funeral Home on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Fredericton Hospice, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
