Obituary of Shannon Lewis

With heavy hearts, the family of Dr. Shannon Rose Lewis announce her sudden passing on Friday, March 12, 2021. Shannon was born in Moncton, NB on March 30, 1973. She is adored and survived by her mom Linda Lewis and her partner Adam Smith; her brother Ian Eagles and wife Sharon; her nieces and nephews: Jordan Eagles, Kirsten Eagles and Austin Eagles and her great-nephew Leland. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers and friends who will miss her dearly. Shannon was predeceased by her father Stuart Lewis in 2008. From an early age Shannon’s love of animals was central to her life. It was inevitable that she would pursue this passion as her career. She graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI in 2000 and began her beloved career. Shannon was an extraordinary veterinarian and person. She had an amazing energy of calmness, peace and positivity and she had a brilliant mind. Her love of animals and her empathy for them shone through with every patient in her care. She had a gentle soul, a gentle touch and a huge capacity for caring. Shannon was an inspiration to many in her ability to look outside the box and always finding that one more thing to try. Learning acupuncture and providing that to her patients was one of Shannon’s favorite things to do but she was talented in every aspect of patient care. Shannon leaves an enormous hole in our SouthPaw family, her passing is a devastating loss for all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Shannon's enthusiasm for life extended into her personal life to include her love of travelling the back roads on her motor bike with her partner and best friend, Adam, where they would often stop to hike or camp along the way. She equally enjoyed hot summer days tending to the garden and pickling the crops with her Mom, Linda. Additionally, Shannon always found room in her heart and in her home for one more orphaned pet to add to her family. She was such a caring individual. According to the wishes of the family, there will be no visitation or service at this time. There will be a celebration of Shannon’s life later in the summer. The family suggests for those who wish, a donation in honour of Shannon’s memory, can made to the non-registered Orphan charity through SouthPaw Animal Hospital or to the registered SPCA or charity of the donor’s choice.
