I was sorry to learn of the passing of your Dad. Darrell was an older cousin of mine but I do remember him visiting and hanging out with my brother, Vernon on the farm at Kelly Creek. I also remember what a talent piano player he was. I hope your memories of happy times together bring you peace and comfort. Take comfort also in knowing that he rejoices with his Lord, with Janice at his side.

I am so sorry to learn of Darrell's passing. My deepest condolences to his family. My friendship goes back to when we were 13 years old. He was a mere 9 days older than I. One of our favourite pastimes was jamming and cruising around town. On my last visit we took a lovely ride into the country. May he rest in peace and rise in glory!

Stephanie, Jennifer and Taylor, We were so sorry to read of your Dad and Grand-dad's passing. You girls were the center of his life, especially so after he lost Janice, his beautiful wife and your Mom and Grammy. Our heartfelt sympathies and prayers are with you at this sad and difficult time. We hold a lot of fond memories of Darrell and Janice that go back a long way. My (Bubby) first memories of Darrell go back to the Argyle Street church and us getting together Sunday afternoons as childhood friends. I remember one such occasion when your grandparents took us on a Sunday afternoon drive in the Studebaker, probably around the end of March. Cliff showed Darrell and I how to make a whistle whittled from a Poplar branch. On another occasion at my home, we were doing "chemistry" in my Dad's workshop. We were both impressed at how Aspirin fizzed when they were dissolving in a liquid (probably vinegar but I'm not sure). I remember your Mom and Dad's courting days and Darrell bringing your Mom to church. UNB graduation, marriage and departure for Newfoundland soon followed. I remember when I was first introduced to you Jennifer. I believe it was Christmas and your folks came home on holiday with their new arrival. I was visiting along with my folks to see the new baby. I clearly remember Darrell asking me," Well, what do you think of my offspring?" He was a proud dad. Then Darrell came back home to teach at the Forestry School. We were both involved with Church, playing instruments and working with the Gospel Messengers Quartet - Don Vincent, Alma Moore, Bob Jewett and Fred Thompson. I relied heavily on Darrell's music skills to coach me in playing bass for the Quartet. When Bro. Mart Vahi came to Argyle Street he asked me top take on the choir. Again Darrell was my saviour because I certainly was in no way qualified. Many Saturday nights were spent at Chippin Court preparing for Sunday-after-service choir practice and delivery at the Sunday evening service. Myrtle was very fond your Mom and always felt so comfortable with her. Darrell and Janice were a beautiful couple, loving, kind, faithful and generous. It does not seem possible that the years have so swiftly carried us into the sunset of life and now the sun has set for both your Mom and Dad. I am looking forward with anticipation to the glories of heaven and reunion with a host of my friends, God's children that are just a step ahead of me. Be assured of our love and more importantly of the love of Jesus as you grieve the loss of your dear Dad and Grampy. May the peace of God bring comfort to your hearts and strengthen you. Bubby and Myrtle Dayton
