Obituary of Norma Helen McFarlane

It is with sadness that the family of Norma Helen (Smith) McFarlane announces her passing on March 13, 2022, at Thomas Hall, Shannex. Born in Fredericton, on May 17, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Amy (Hearne) Smith. Norma was a creative and artistic person. She loved to paint, and created many lovely pieces. Some of her favourite activities were reading poetry, completing Sudoku games and jigsaw puzzles, all while listening to music. She is survived by her children Gary (Karen) of Charters Settlement, Duane of Fredericton, and Bonita McFarlane (Alexis) of Fredericton; a granddaughter Valeri Perry (Guy Richard); great grandchildren Amy Perry and Matthew Richard; a sister Joan Moore (Dennis) of Fredericton; sisters-in-law Ann Smith and Wilza Phillips, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many – MANY – lifelong friends. In addition to her parents, Norma was predeceased by her husband, Ira McFarlane, and a brother, Edward Smith. A visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Monday, August 29, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00pm. A graveside service will take place in the Saint John Evangelist Anglican Cemetery, Beaver Dam, on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, at 11:00am. For those who wish, donations in Norma’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
