I have known Jim since our university days, and Linda since Jim joined Neill and Gunter/Stantec. My sympathies to Linda, their children and families. Jim was true mechanical engineer and a very competent project manager. He was willing to go that extra mile. He always had a smile on his face, and was willingly to share a brief conversation and a joke or two. He will sadly be missed by the NGL gang. A true gentleman indeed. Harry

We often shared family stories and when Sophia was born he was over the moon and I always heard about how smart she was. Jim was a true gentleman and will truly be missed. I will always remember our joking back and forth when I called him the handsome dude which came from one of the deli workers. This was always our joke. Take care Linda. You were truly Jim's love and life. Susan Fox

Bruce Grant posted a condolence
Dear Linda and family; I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing and your loss. I have very fond memories of Jim, both within Neil and Gunter and outside of work. During the 80s, as I attended UNB, I was employed within the print room and I found Jim to be professional and soft spoken, as he requested me to do some work for him. As with all engineers he was a thinker and a doer, just as my late father Bob Grant, who also had worked there for many years. The three of us went on many motorcycle trips and it was a pleasure to have know him. Sincerely Bruce Grant

What a shock to learn of Jim's passing! I was a year behind Jim in University and first worked with him in 1991. As many others have said Jim was a consummate gentleman and professional engineer. He brought great credit to himself and his chosen profession. When Jim spoke everyone listened. In the last five years or so I bumped into Jim at almost every UNB men's hockey game. I am sure that Jim's soul now rests in heaven. Sincere condolences to all the family members Jim left behind. Jim: RIP!

BYRON WEBBER posted a condolence
We are so shocked and sorry to hear of Jim's passing. It wasn't that long ago that both of us retirees were doing work at Stantec and Jim looked the picture of health. I first met Jim in 1975 when we had both just joined NB Power in the Engineering Dept. in Marysville. We had motorcycling in common and in those days Jim raced bikes which I was very impressed with. He had a label on his gas tank that read "You have to finish to win". Well, Jim certainly won at a life well lived! Our condolences to you and the family Linda.

Pat (MacDonald) Ross posted a condolence
Hi: was sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We lived in Lakeburn growing up. Last time I seen Jim was at Moncton High reunion. We had a nice visit that time. We graduated the same year. I remember having a community dance on his front lawn when we were teenagers. We were all friends together in that community. I know this time is very hard for your family. I lost my husband Reg in July 2018. He was sick 2 months. It is very hard to lose someone you love and had so many great years together. We were married 46 years and started going out together when we were 14. It will get easier but you never get over the love you had and still have. May you find peace during this difficult time. It's especially hard during this isolation. God Bless all your family. Always Jim's friend, Pat Ross

I was surprise to hear of Jim's passing. I recognized his picture right away when I looked at the obits in the paper. To you all my deepest condolences. I remember you all from over the years we've know each and even back to Charlie and Lil. Ah, the good old days of ham radio! FYI, on the Maritime net last week I announced Jim's passing as usual a minute of silence was observed on the net. This is custom when we loose one of our kind.

I was sorry to see the announcement of Jim's passing in the paper.
