Elynor, Charlie was always one of my favorite persons dating back to law school on Waterloo Row when we first met on through our years of practice. When we met periodically it was always a positive delight whether at a convention or occasionally on matters of mutual client's interest. He was an honourable person who professionally one could always rely on when matters had to be resolved in the mutual bestg interests of clients. My sincere condolences.

We are so saddened to learn of Charlie's passing. We genuinely feel the grief of losing such a fine person. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Not only have you lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, but we have lost a wonderful friend. Charlie's great smile, positive outlook, and gentle demeanour endeared him to all. Charlie was most professional in assisting our family in legal matters. He always made certain that I was able to follow proceedings. Whether being with you, or family and friends far and wide, Charlie savoured life to the fullest. We enjoyed chatting about our "common thread" ..our cottages on Grand Lake. He loved his "Sargeant's Mess" Charles was a wealthy person ~ He had the love of a family, respect of his many friends and co workers, and pride in himself. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched. May the comfort and support of those who love you, along with wonderful memories, bring peace and solace

I was very sad to hear of Charlie's passing. Our offices were next door to one another at McInnes Cooper for several years, when I was a junior lawyer. Charlie was always very generous with his time and with his considerable legal knowledge. It made a big difference for me as I was learning the ins and outs of practice. Most importantly, though, Charlie was a good guy. He was always friendly and welcoming and I always enjoyed our conversations.

Elynor and all - my sincere sympathy. Charlie and I had a common root in Plaster Rock where our fathers were both Royal Bank managers. We were associates and partners in the practice of law. A few years ago I asked his permission to name him as an alternate executor of my will. Regrettably his consent was qualified with a warning that I might outlive him.

I was saddened to hear of Charles' passing. Although we practices in different areas of law, during the time that we worked at the same firm, we had the chance to work on some files together. Charles was very knowledgeable, practical and a man of his word. I enjoyed having the chance to learn from and work with him. My thoughts are with Elynor and the family during this difficult time.

Elynor and family, So sorry to learn of Charlie's passing. Charlie was a fine man. In Liberal circles in the 1960's, Charlie was the dignified party vet who took me under his wing. I was only moderately partisan, but Charlie made time for me, with his warm twinkle, and active wit. He was in the political domain for the right reasons. He glowed with his love for this family, and he must have been very proud of his great-granddaughter Poppy. All the best, Charlie Julian

As you know only too well, I have known Charlie most of my life (and you, too!)and truly feel the loss of a wonderful and life-long friend who just happened to be a superb lawyer and a great all-round guy! When I was appointed to the Court, I well remember Charlie was one of the first people to call me "Judge" - I was so honoured when he did so. I know both Mom and Dad thought the world of you two as well. Once again, my sincere sympathy on this devastating loss - the world is a poorer place with Charlie gone. Julian

Ashirah Firszt (Wendy Sutherland) posted a condolence
Dear Elynor and family, I just this morning, April 11th, received news of Charlie's passing. I feel so deeply saddened. Charlie has been on my mind the past several weeks, and I was intending to call to say hello, but between work and the Passover holiday, things here in Israel have been hectic. I am so sorry I did not immediately listen to my inner voice and call. Charlie was the most exemplary person I have worked with in my life. He gave me the courage to believe in myself, to embrace challenges, and he gave me the proverbial wings to fly...and I did...to Romania, to Tanzania, the Yukon and many other places, accepting work challenges that I probably would have missed had Charlie not given me the gift of believing in myself and in my ability to learn new things. He probably would have chuckled to learn that I am now the contracts manager for the 2nd largest Jewish publishing house in the world, thanks to the training he gave me. Your husband and father/grandfather was an exemplary man, lauded by his contemporaries and rightly so. He was also a compassionate man, quick to respond to and assist those in difficult straits. He will be sorely missed. My deepest heartfelt condolences are extended to you. May Charlie's soul always feel close by, and may his memory comfort and guide you through the years to come. Wendy Sutherland (aka Ashirah Firszt)
